Mr Jim Cleland completed undergraduate medical and surgical training at University of Otago in 1973. Mr Cleland became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1981. He completed 6 years post-graduate surgical training in Ear, Nose and Throat surgery in 1984. He enjoyed comprehensive surgical experience and tutelage at St Thomas’ Hospital, London for 2 years and as Senior Registrar based in Birmingham, UK for 4 years.
Mr Cleland has practised as ENT – Head & Neck – Facial surgeon in Nelson since January 1985. He regularly attends courses and conferences to maintain professional expertise. He is informed about all aspects of modern ENT practice with special areas of interest – ear pathology (including rotational vertigo), upper airway sleep pathology affecting children and adults, nasal and sinus pathology and surgery for facial lesions. His interest in cosmetic surgery is restricted to correction of bat ears.
